Chess in Washington

I'm off to our nation's capitol to spend the weekend participating in the Atlantic Open chess tournament. Wish me luck!

Jason, I appreciate your efforts to clarify the relationship between mathematics and religion. In teaching a history of mathematics course for school math teachers, I realized how long it took mathematics to separate mathematical concepts from theological ones. Perhaps in the near future, we will have to interrupt a presentation on infinite series to explain that "only God can truly understand Infinity." This will be called "teaching the controversy about infinity."

Meanwhile, I would like to see more comparative religion courses taught in high schools, with special attention to Islamic studies. I think the I.D. controversy in our schools represents a failure on the part of our humanities teachers, more than an indication of poor science instruction.
